To have lyrics work, using the USB port, the files have to be in one of 2 CAVS PROPRIETARY file formats!! The rest of the karaoke world uses CDG, but noooooo... CAVS has their own proprietary version of "CDG", so you have to buy it from them! I have gone through hell and wasted so much money trying to convert my library to work on this device, and nothing will work.
I was even trying to transfer my library from ANOTHER CAVS machine, and it won't work! At some point they decided to change file formats. I spent money on software to convert my library, which the software said it could do, but apparently there's a whole mess of different decryption keysets necessary to decrypt all the different types of .ncg files CAVS made. So now I've spent a whole bunch of money on their equipment, and third party software just to get this machine working, and I still don't have lyrics.
Aside from all that it looks cheap, out-dated, runs very slow, and the user interface looks...Read more

I don't really trust the quality of CAVS players, but it's the only one I've found that will play the Super CDGs. This is my 2nd one. The first 203g crapped out after about 2 years of very light use. The disks would just stop playing in the middle of the songs, the load/eject drawer would get stuck and not open or close. I sent the 1st one back to CAVs to repair. The repair job was going to cost more than I originally paid for it. This latest one works ok. I have a Terabyte drive connected through the USB port, I copied my Super CDGs to the drive and have about 4000 songs on it. The one pain is that it takes about 10 or more minutes for the 203g to get going. It is "INITIALIZING" forever. Who knows why it does that. I have only had this for 3 months, XMAS 2009 gift to my wife. It hasn't crapped out yet, but that doesn't mean it won't.

DJ Player Extra-Ordinaire!,

Before I bought this player I was using 2 to 3 CD players to keep my music rolling and carting around all of my CD's with the rest of my DJ equipment. Now I can leave most of the discs at home and only carry the specialized music for weddings or parties that I will be leaving with the hosts. I use this player with a hard drive that has all of my discs loaded onto it. The player itself loads up quickly and I have access to over 10,000 songs, by number, while keeping my CD's and CDG's in mint condition. I've been running this player 6 nights a week for a year and a half with no glitches, it runs great! I'll be buying another one soon to add to my system.
