Product Review
Amazon.com Product Description
GoVideo's shiny D640 does double duty as a movie source and a digital media player, giving you a choice of video outputs as well as decoding for the popular MP3 and Windows Media Audio music formats. If you burn pictures from your digital camera to CD-Rs and CD-RWs, you can even use the player for watching slideshows right on your TV--you're no longer tethered to your PC when you're ready to share your shots with friends and family. Use standard CD-R/CD-RW media filled with JPEG images, or burn Kodak Picture CDs for even greater viewing options--fancy transitions, timing options, etc.

It's also fully equipped to display seamless, flicker-free progressive-scan images on high-definition or HD-ready TVs, whether your living room is currently home to one or you're merely thinking of "someday." Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs (switchable between 480p and standard 480i) help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Other features include parental locks, disc resume (so you can pick up where you left off, even after a disc has left the player), 16 chapter/track programming, a screen saver, picture zoom (for both DVDs and JPEG digital photos), picture controls (contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation), and extensive audio controls (multiple preset equalizer curves and a user-adjustable onscreen graphic EQ).

What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, a stereo analog audio/composite-video interconnect, a user's guide, a quick-reference guide, and a product registration card.

1.0 out of 5 stars dissapointed, March 19, 2005
This review is from: GoVideo D640 DVD Player (Electronics)
the unit failed after about 30 hours of use, the initial cost of the player prohibited researching any repairs and or warranties. it is now in the trash can!!!! 50 bucks wasted, oh well...

1.0 out of 5 stars It sucks, buy a sony, January 22, 2005
This review is from: GoVideo D640 DVD Player (Electronics)
Having read good reviews, I bought 2 of these for my kids at Christmas. One unit stop ejecting discs after the first week. The second although continues to work, does so sporadically and is leaving marks on my DVDs. It is beginning to annoy me. I should have bought a Sony.

We have never had any problems with the DVD player, which we've owned for about a year. Plays DVDs, CDs, CD-Rs with no problems.
