Whatever you're watching, and on any TV, Screen Fit ensures that the picture fills the whole screen. And it includes DivX media format that is an MPEG-4 based video compression technology enabling you to save large files like movies, trailers and music videos on media like CD-R/RW and DVD recordable disc for playback on your DivX Ultra Certified Philips device. My previous multiregion phillips finally died on me, and I was hoping that this model was essentially the same. Actually, it turned out to be better. Oh, not in terms of play. Both phillips models will play any disc, including ones I burned myself. In addition the colors are much more vibrant, and I say this after thinking the previous model produced beautiful color from each disc. The picture is sharper, and there's even audio improvement. Like the previous model, PAL discs frequently produce the best image, but NTSC discs will also air a much more detailed image. I highly recommend this player.

So I bought this like a lot of people, so I could watch Region 2 DVD's on my TV. When I got it out of the box it would only play region 1... So I was a little annoyed with that. I tried to contact people to see if there was something to change to make it work... There was, but nobody knew. I found later a review for another DVD player in which someone said there were codes you can enter in the preference menu to allow you to choose the region you want (seemingly region 0 lets you play it all). I don't know whether it just worked for everybody else and it was just mine that wasn't set up right, but it does work now. So if you end up having the same problem, a google search of the reference of the player will easily lead you to the right code, punch it in the preference menu and choose region 0 and you're good to go!

this is fantastic value for the product. You can view dvd's from all over the world and don't have to worry about PAL or region of the disc. I love it.
