Philips BDP5110/F7 Blu-Ray Disc Player with 1080p HDMI Upconversion

I was extremely disappointed in this product. I had to contact the customer support line 5 times for assistance. Each time I called I was given different instructions as to what to do to connect the DVD to the Netflex Internet. I finally asked f friend who is quite knowledgeable in this area, he installed a Home Theatre in his home and has a doctorate degree in nuclear physics. Even he was unable to connect the player to Netflex. The furthest he got was to begin to upgrade the unit via the Internet as prompted, but after a minute or two of the upgrade running it would drop out, we could not understand why so we gave up in frustration. I do not understand why it is so difficult to accomplish a simple task and why I was unable to receive good instruction from the Help line. Since I was completely dissatisfied with the item I returned it to Amazon and received full credit. Product Info screen provides you with the information on this unit's hardware and software version information. You can download the latest firmware from their website in a zip file. Then burn a CD with the BIN file to load into the blu-ray player to install the update. No network connection was required to the blu-ray player. This unit came with the latest Version 1.008 already installed. Sony and Panasonic do their updates directly off the network.

Update 7/10/2010: Checked Philips website and found a newer firmware Version 1.019 published 6/20/2010, released after my first review.
