VERRRY slow to recognize whether you've fed it a DVD, CD, or MP3 disc. When I got this, I had planed to toss my 12-year old JVC audio CD player to save space, but this unit loads so slowly that I kept the JVC out and hooked up, and still use it in preference to this unit for audio CD's. However, picture and sound quality are excellent, unit is about 2 years old and going strong.
The MP3 disc capacility has not been all I'd hoped, even though I really selected this unit for this feature. The video display of filenames only shows the first 14 characters of the file, which is really not sufficient for the way I do my filenames ("1969-02-27 b06 The Eleven (Part 1).mp3"). MP3 also has a technical problem with playing continuous tracks, like live music, a lot of what I listen to, so I use OGG Vorbis which is non-commercial, duty-free, and much better at handling continuous tracks.
