The audio features on the RC5225P include Dolby Digital and DTS bit-stream outputs for full 5.1-channel surround-sound capability. Built-in Dolby Digital decoding means this player can be used with a less expensive six-channel receiver and still process true Dolby Surround Sound. SRS Tru Surround processing lets the listener enjoy a surround-sound experience through just two stereo speakers, while dynamic range compression automatically diminishes loud noises like explosions and increases the volume of dialog.
RCA has also built in a host of convenient features to take full advantage of DVD technology. View just your favorite sections of a movie with programmable playback, scan through the disc via chapter/track search, or insert a marker at the location of your choice for fast indexing back to that point. Intelliseek scan modes provide clear pictures through five different speeds of advance or reverse, and three slow-motion speeds allow for fine-tune scanning. Repeat your favorite scenes with A-B repeat, which repeats a certain section defined between two points, or automatically repeat your favorite DVD chapter or audio CD track. A jog-shuttle dial control provides automatic track selection for CDs, and a full complement of other operational controls are included on the front panel.
The connectivity options on the RC5225P DVD player include component-video outputs for the best possible connection to compatible TVs, composite-video and S-video outputs. An optical audio output is also included for optimal connection to digital audio receivers.
Parental rating control on the RC5225P DVD player enables parents to decide what is suitable for their children to watch. In addition, parents can use the scene-snip editing feature which permits the user to remove up to six scenes of their choice while watching the movie. The scenes are stored in memory and will only be played back when a password is entered.
RCA's RC5225P DVD player comes with a universal remote control, which lets you control all DVD functions from the comfort of your couch, and stereo audio-video cables for quick setup.
RCA offers a one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor for the RC5225P.

By A Customer This review is from: RCA RC5225P DVD Player (Electronics) I think this player is an excellent player for folks just looking to watch DVD's in their living room. I bought this Player over a year ago and have loved it ever since. There is the occasional total lockup that has to be reset by unplugging the power cord but that happens so rarely it poses no issues. Great sound!!! Great Picture!!The only problem is it is now outdated. Does not play CD-r vcd's which I now have quite a few of. Oh well.. still great for your normal rented DVD's. I Recommend!!
