Video quality is excellent. We really don't use it for sound, we already have a cd, scda and DVDA player, so I can't comment on that beyond while watching a movie the experience is superb. It does take a minute or 2 to load sometimes, but I was told (by friends of mine that test BD players for a living) that this is normal in all but the Sony game systems. We, specifically, did not want that. They also claim, that the unit is a skinned clone of a Panasonic unit with good street cred's, but I can not say whether or not this is true. Finally, apparently which company 'authored' the disc has something to do with the play back experince too. I haven't had a bad experience yet, so overall I say its an excellent unit.
